Housing in the slums of Kampala, Uganda, presents significant challenges due to overcrowding, inadequate infrastructure, and limited access to basic services. Many residents live in makeshift structures made of materials like corrugated iron sheets, wood, and plastic, which offer minimal protection against harsh weather conditions. Sanitation is a major issue, with insufficient toilet facilities and poor waste management leading to health hazards. Access to clean water is often unreliable, forcing inhabitants to rely on contaminated sources. Additionally, the lack of proper roads and drainage systems exacerbates flooding during the rainy season, causing further damage to homes.
